From flatness to flatness
The measurement systems of Shapeline are based on the research of Dr. Pär Kierkegaard at the University of Linköping. Pär, now the CEO of Shapeline, pioneered laser trigonometry as a method to continuously measure surface profile with high accuracy (more about our technology here). In 1996 Pär left the realms of the academic world to use the technology “in the real world”. After measuring several applications (including pigs!) we are since year 2000 only serving the metal industries, and then mainly steel, and only flat products.
What is today Shapeline AB was for the first four years (until 1999) part of an IT consultancy company. When that business was sold, the activities around laser trigonometry measurement systems were excluded from the sold company and Shapeline AB was formed. Shapeline is today a privately owned company based in the city of Linköping, Sweden (map).
The Shapeline solution for measuring the flatness of metallic products (plates and strip) is technically frontline. Not only will the metal producers that use the Shapeline system be able to verify and document the flatness of the products delivered – by measuring flatness in different phases of the production - costs are saved too.
Shapeline credit worthiness is given the highest rating possible, AAA, by the Standard & Poor’s Nordic partner.
Employees Shapeline takes pride in the quality of its dedicated and highly skilled workforce, 25% of which have a PhD and 40% a MSc.
Board The board of Shapeline AB has an accumulated total of more than 100 years of experience in running manufacturing companies.
