Shapeline delivers a new Shapeline flatness system to SSAB’s steel plant in Raahe
SSAB’s steel plant in Raahe, Finland, has ordered a new Shapeline flatness system, following a preceding order two years ago. The new system will be installed in a cold leveling line for quality control of the plates.
Raahe steel mill in Finland produces high-strength steels for different types of applications, for instance automotive and mining industries, lifting and transportation equipment. The high quality requirements for these products also reflect on the high demands on flatness.
The Shapeline Flex system to be supplied to the Raahe mill is based on Shapeline’s new product platform , ShapeCAT. Higher frame rate and higher resolution, together with a processing capacity moved closer to the sensors, allow for increased accuracy and flexibility in the measurements.
”It‘s a sign of trust that the Raahe mill orders a second Shapeline system. The design of the new system has been challenging due to the very restricted installation space, but with our new product platform ShapeCAT, we can meet this as well as provide even better measurement performance than with the previous system”, says Magnus Titus, President, Shapeline.
Commissioning of the Raahe mill’s second Shapeline system will take place during the summer 2015.
